Around the end of last year, a friend of mine from Portland, Oregon took a break and spent the weekend near the coast at Nye Beach, Oregon. She stayed in the Sylvia Beach Hotel, and I received this great piece of snail mail about it. Apparently, each room is dedicated to a writer. Knowing that I enjoy Hemingway's work, she took the below photos of the Hemingway room. It's maximum cheese, of course. But there's sort of a fun factor in looking at them. Thought I would post them. Oh, and the hotel is located online at http://www.sylviabeachhotel.com/
In other news...
Slowly digging myself out of the consequences of being ill and way too behind in grading papers. Slow and steady, as the cliche goes. Taxes all wrapped up. Received a small, modest refund. Using it to get the back yard ready for spring and summer. The kids are on spring break...both in my house and at the university. It is sort of nice not to have to drive to Kentucky after work tonight.
Having a quiet day in the office. The boss is on a site visit for the rest of the week, and that always leaves us with a sort of...relaxed fit-approach to the day. And one of the writers is cleaning out her desk. She put her notice in the other day, and we are all sort of sitting around and chatting with her as she puts four years of life into a couple of small cardboard boxes.

The Sylvia Beach is one of my favorite places, and you can't beat the Dr. Seuss room. Also, at dinner you get to play Two Truths and a Lie. Great spot!
